Shauwn Mkhize Defends Claims That Her Money Is The Reason For Her Role On Uzalo. Shauwn Mkhize recently made her debut as an actress on Uzalo and the streets are not quite sure if they are fans.
The reality star turned actress has been accused of getting her latest gig not based on merit but because she is a wealthy lady. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the reality TV star addressed the rumours tied to her new acting gig claiming that it was her hustle that got her the gig, and not her money or connections.
She further made examples of the situation, claiming that there are many people who are in the same league as her financially but are not on the same level as she is career wise.
“How many people have money but are not in the spaces I am? Saying (my money got me the role) is like when they were saying I am where I am today because I come from a politically connected family but you must ask yourself one question; how many people come from ‘politically connected’ families but are not where I am?” she said.
According to the publication, Shauwn spoke of how having money is perceived as a taboo. The businesswoman shared that no matter what happens, she is a person who takes pride in all that she does, although all that she does is associated with her affluence, money isn’t everything.
“For me, I always say that sometimes people make you feel like money is a curse, like money is the wrong thing to have. They will make you feel so small, like it’s a problem to work. At the end of the day I am human and I put effort in everything I do. It is not because there’s money. But, you know, people will always want to attach money to everything I do, like everything is based on money,” she said.
Mkhize shared how she feels about receiving the backlash about her acting gig, claiming that she is prone to receiving a lot of hate with regards to everything she does but she has mastered the art of turning it around into motivation.
“I’m a dark horse. When I come into something people always question me until I surprise them. And you know what, when they do that, they make me put in more effort. I become a better person” she said.
