Seputla Sebogodi’s Funeral Details Announced

The funeral and memorial service details for the late South African actor Seputla Sebogodi have been announced following his passing earlier this month.

The celebrated performer sadly passed away on the evening of 15 July 2026 after complications related to diabetes. His death has left family, friends, colleagues, fans and the wider South African creative community mourning the loss of a respected performer whose career spanned theatre and television.

According to Actors Space, Seputla will have two memorial services, one in Pretoria and the other in Polokwane, giving those who knew and loved him an opportunity to gather and celebrate his life and legacy.

The memorial service in Pretoria will be held on Thursday, 23 July at 09:00 at the South African State Theatre. The second memorial service will take place in Polokwane on Friday, 24 July 2026 at Jack Botes Hall from 12:00 until 18:00.

The funeral service will then be held on Saturday, 25 July at 08:00 at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane. The cemetery will be Silicion, Polokwane.

The services will bring together family, friends, colleagues and the wider creative community in celebrating a life that touched so many.

“Seputla Sebogodi leaves behind an extraordinary legacy in South African theatre and television. He will be remembered for his memorable performances in Generations, Suburban Bliss, Bophelo ke Semphego, Redemption, and most recently Scandal!, as well as his acclaimed theatre work in productions including Big Dada, Waiting for Godot, The Rivonia Trial, Once a Pirate, and Mooi Street Moves, among many others.

As the news of his passing continues to be felt across the entertainment industry, the upcoming memorial services and funeral will provide an opportunity for those closest to Seputla to come together, remember his remarkable career and honour the lasting impact he made through his work.
