South African fitness influencer and media personality Sbahle Mpisane has spoken out after facing hurtful comments about her permanent injury. The star recently took to social media to address people who have been mocking and questioning her condition.
Sbahle shared emotional pictures from her time in hospital after surviving a serious car accident. One of the images shows her in a wheelchair during her recovery. By posting these photos, she reminded her followers of the painful journey she has had to walk since the accident.
She said, “It’s truly saddening that people always seem to have something negative to say. Am I supposed to be ungrateful for surviving, considering that only death could have freed me from trauma, negativity, and my permanent injury?
Many can’t say the same, but l’m very fortunate that my leg didn’t have to be amputated. It was a costly procedure, and I’m blessed to have 2 feet and 10 toes today. I had to learn how to walk two years after my accident and adopt a life with amnesia. I may not look like my problems, but my life hasn’t been easy, and your negative comments only highlight your disappointment in my resilience. It seems people find joy in others’ misfortunes. Every post attracts negative comments about my Moonboot. Why?
I might be disliked for focusing on myself, rising above my challenges, and not providing drama for entertainment. Surviving is not something I will apologize for. I’m a warrior. Be inspired.”
She also shared a screenshot and she wrote,” I’m permanently injured, I don’t have an ankle bone on my right foot & I wear the moon boot to protect my spine not because I can’t walk with it… Don’t let my strength and flexibility fool you into believing that I’m stunting or speak shittie of my misfortune because worse can happen to you, ur blood, ur friend or partner. Be mindful of ur words, a lot can happen.”
Sbahle Mpisane got into a horrific car accident on August 9, 2018. Since then, she has worked hard to rebuild her life. Her message is clear: she is proud to have survived and refuses to apologise for her strength.
