South African fitness influencer and media personality Sbahle Mpisane has shared a deeply personal moment with her followers.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Sbahle revealed that she recently made an emotional decision about her wardrobe and her body. “I live in a petite apartment with very limited wardrobe space… so trust me, four boxes is A LOT,” she wrote.

The fitness star explained that she packed away every single item in her wardrobe that does not fit her anymore. The process was not easy. “And I wanted to cry but decided to take a nap in between hahaha,” she shared honestly.

Sbahle admitted that she has always kept clothes for every version of her body. She would hold on to outfits “in case I gain weight” or “in case I lose weight.” Laughing at herself, she added, “Yes, I’m that calculative in all areas of my life. Stop giggling. It gives me peace.”

Last year, she intentionally gained 15 kilograms and maintained a weight of 90kg. However, she confessed that many of her clothes no longer fit her. Even her gym clothes had become too small, something she only realised later when she forgot to pack them away. “So clearly I need two more storage boxes!!” she joked.

Some of her dresses did not completely stop fitting, but instead became tight enough to be worn as tops. “That’s how wide I’ve become,” she wrote. Behind the humour, Sbahle admitted that the situation was “silently breaking” her.

In December, she chose to stay home. It was not because she did not want to go out, but because she did not want to buy clothes for what she described as a temporary body. Seeing clothes that no longer fit became a daily reminder of her weight gain.

She also spoke openly about depression, saying it can cause weight gain. Sbahle realised that constantly looking at clothes that did not fit was feeding her sadness.

“So today, I packed them away,” she said. For her, growth is not just about losing weight but also about releasing mental burdens. Although the day was emotional, she described it as freeing.

“This is my first step,” she concluded.
