Canadian comedian Russell Peters, took to Twitter to reveal that he was just pranking Trevor Noah with his comments about Noah stealing jokes from him and other comedians.Peters appeared on Singaporean TV and interview claimed that Noah, the new ‘Daily Show’ host, had stolen jokes from him and fellow comedians.
“He’s stolen material from David Kua, he’s stolen material from myself… You know, but whatever. That’s his gig now, and congratulations! [Laughs.] That’s all I can say,” he said.
Peters later took to Twitter to clear up the confusion, tweeting Noah that he couldn’t believe how gullible the media was.
“@Trevornoah OMG I can’t believe how gullible the media are! Next time I’ll choose a less awkward time to prank U! #PeopleWatchSingaporeanTV?”
Noah took it all in his stride and joked around with Peters, promising ‘revenge’ for the jibes.
“@therealrussellp you just cost me the presidency of South Africa. Lol. See you in Vegas. Revenge is sweet. #SomebodyGonnaGetHurtRealBad,” he tweeted.
Comedy Central hasn’t yet announced when Noah will take over as host of ‘The Daily Show’.
