Reality TV star Vuyokazi Nciweni is opening up about her weight loss journey after undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in Turkey. The Izingane Zesthembu star recently shared before-and-after pictures of her transformation on social media, leaving fans inspired by her honesty and confidence.
In the post, the 26-year-old mom of two wrote: “There’s strength in both pictures. Same girl, New standard. No fear. No shame. Just growth. Grateful to @op.dr.gurdaloren. Results don’t lie.”
A few months ago, Vuyokazi revealed details about her cosmetic procedure on YouTube. She posted an hour-long vlog where she documented her entire trip to Turkey and explained why she decided to take this big step.
In the video, she said: “I was supposed to tell you guys about my journey to Turkey and why I came to Turkey. So, guys, I actually came for a gastric sleeve surgery/weight loss surgery. It’s something that I thought would be good for me because I am actually struggling with losing weight. I’ve tried everything; eating proper foods and all of that, but I think I lacked self-discipline when it comes to the kind of foods that I eat and that has become very unhealthy for me to a point where it gets so bad.”
The reality star explained that the decision was not just about appearance but also about her health. “My body feels very heavy, my legs get swollen, and I’m always tired,” she shared. She added that the procedure would help her change her eating habits and overall lifestyle.
Vuyokazi also revealed a deeply personal reason behind her choice: “Also, I’m doing this for my kids because I want to live longer for them.”
Gastric sleeve surgery, also called sleeve gastrectomy, involves removing about 80% of the stomach and leaving behind a small tube-shaped pouch. This significantly limits how much food a person can eat and also reduces the production of ghrelin, a hormone that causes hunger. As a result, patients experience fewer cravings and gradual weight loss.
Vuyokazi’s journey shows that making bold decisions for health and happiness takes courage. As she said, it’s about “growth” and setting a “new standard” for herself.
