Psyfo Reacts To Social Media Death Hoax. Death has become such a regular occurrence these day as we have found ourselves mourning the loss of many treasured artists to and the year hasn’t even come to an end. Even though that may be the case, this has still not discouraged social media bullies to stop with the fake social media death hoaxes about celebrities.
Many celebs such as Sophie Lichaba, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and more have been victims of death hoaxes, where fake news about their death spreads like wild fire and they have to come out and refute the claims. Sidwell Ngwenya affectionately known as Psyfo has also become a target of the trolls who enjoy traumatizing people about fake celebrity deaths.
The actor took to twitter to share a screen shot of a Facebook post made by a social media user who was mourning his death. Ngwenya shared how he wanted to ignore the insensitive act at first but he found it imperative that he highlight the depression and anxiety that has affected many because of people who chase the culture of being social media famous.
“I thought I should ignore this but then again I thought there is something very deep and sad that needs to be highlighted about social media and it’s impact on depression and anxiety. This culture of wanting to be famous at the expense of someone else’s depression is not cool” he wrote.
In a follow up post the newlywed shared that there are many other things that one could post about however, faking someones death is just not one of them. This is even more cruel considering that we have lost so many people already this year. Sidwell shared his hopes for those who find such acts on social media to be funny, to find it in themselves to grow a conscience and stops.
“There are many things we can make fun of or ways to be famous but this is not one of them. Especially now when death has become such a daily occurrence in our lives. I hope whoever else sees this and finds such acts on social media funny gets some conscience from this and stops” he added.
“I’m glad someone brought this to my attention cause this reminded me some people need to be stopped from using social media as a platform to hurt others. Again, depression is real, let us just be sensitive of what we post for clout” he wrote.
Some people just don’t deserve the internet.
