At 19 years, Princess Charlene’s Stepson, Alexandre Grimaldi, and the son of Prince Albert of Monaco, is increasingly emerging as a notable and well-liked figure within his renowned family. Recently, he granted his inaugural interview, a noteworthy event as he had spent most of his upbringing in seclusion, shielded from the public eye.
WHO IS ALEXANDRE GRIMALDI?
Born on the 24th of August, 2003, Alexandre Grimaldi is the offspring of Prince Albert II (aged 65) and Nicole Coste (aged 51). However, distinct from his siblings, Grimaldi does not hold a position in the line of succession due to his parents having never been married, an essential legal stipulation in Monaco.
The initial encounter between Coste and Prince Albert occurred in 1997 when she was a flight attendant on an Air France flight en route to Paris. Their relationship, concealed from the public, spanned several years until Prince Albert’s father, Rainer II, insisted on its termination.
Several sources indicate that Prince Albert assumed financial responsibility for both Coste and Alexandre post their birth. He also promised legal acknowledgment following a positive DNA test verifying his paternity. Although Prince Albert clarified that Alexandre and his older sister Jazmin Grace Grimaldi (aged 31) would not partake in the succession line, he affirmed their financial well-being.
PRINCESS CHARLENE’S STEPSON EXPRESSES HIS VIEWS
In an interview with the French publication Point de Vue, Alexandre Grimaldi shared his perspective in anticipation of his upcoming 20th birthday. He depicted himself as fortunate and characterized his identity as that of a university student coincidentally being a prince’s son.
When questioned about his envisioned role in Monaco’s future, Grimaldi responded with a light-hearted tone: “I’m only 20. Let me get my diploma, and we’ll talk about it.” Currently, he is pursuing studies in Business Management at an English university and continues to reside with his Togolese mother, who was also interviewed.
Alexandre candidly disclosed that bearing the title of a prince’s son did not weigh as heavily on him as some might presume. He noted, “I’ve had some rather happy times, to tell the truth, and I’ve never had the feeling that the way others, my friends in particular, change their views of me and who I am. But maybe I’m still too young to discern this. I appreciate my friends very much, and I hope they’ll never disappoint me.”
