“You Want the Greener Grass? Better Have the Stomach for the Manure” – Sonia Booth Gets Real on Untied

Model and businesswoman Sonia Booth is opening up like never before. In the latest episode of Untied on Showmax, Sonia sits down with host Relebogile Mabotja to share her truth, talk about her public split, and speak honestly about the healing journey she’s been on since.

For Sonia, this conversation is not just another interview—it’s part of her healing. “Sharing my story is part of my journaling process, and journaling heals,” she says.

When asked what she hopes other women will take away from her story, Sonia keeps it real: “I want for them not to believe the facade of a happy and wholesome life just by observing from the outside. For them not to envy. You want the greener grass? Better have the stomach for the amount of manure it comes with.”

Her honesty is both raw and refreshing. Sonia believes that too often, social media shows only the highlight reel of people’s lives—leaving out the real struggles that happen behind the scenes.

“It’s important for women to have these conversations because social media has unearthed phoney and pretentious behaviours,” she says.

“We need to talk about real lives and daily struggles behind our smartphones. The lives without the filters. The days when you don’t have the strength to adult, where you just want to be left alone.”

Sonia says these kinds of honest conversations help people reflect and realise that no one is truly alone in what they’re going through. “Such honest convos remind you to check yourself. I always say: till it happens to you.”

She also shares how women can better support each other. For Sonia, it’s all about empathy, not judgment.

“Women can support each other by being there for each other, listening with great veneration and not judging. Don’t ever tell me how to handle a situation because, when faced with it, you will deal with it in a way that you could never comprehend.”

So why should people tune in to Untied? “I feel like people need to watch because they might pick up red flags that I probably missed in my life, then hopefully save themselves from misery and heartache,” Sonia says.
