Even though our loved ones may not be with us anymore, the memories that were captured will always remind us of the good times and thanks to Facebook, we will have those memories forever. Zoleka Mandela shared one of her memories that she was reminded of by the social media platform with her now late grandmother, Winnie Mandela.
Taking to Instagram, Zoleka posted a memory from five years ago when she was in the car with her grandmother, waiting for her to get off the phone so they could go shopping. Zoleka describes her grandmother as her day one which is why she was very stingy when it came to sharing her grandmother times with others.
Unfortunately, because Winnie Mandela was the respected and iconic figure that she was, Zoleka knew deep down inside that Winnie belonged to the people.
“Yesterday’s Facebook reminder, My Day One and I … like 5yrs ago! ? We were living our life, doing us … I really (actually) just wanted her to be mine alone but she belonged to the world, this one” Zoleka wrote.
When Winnie passed away in 2018 after a long illness and stay in hospital. She was 81 years of age at the time of her passing.
