Phumeza Shoba Ends 11-Year Marriage with Mnqobi Shoba Over Cheating Allegations

The 11-year marriage between house music star Mnqobi Shoba and popular actress Phumeza Shoba is allegedly coming to an end.

Sunday World exclusively revealed that Phumeza has decided to end the marriage, accusing Mnqobi of adultery as well as emotional and psychological abuse

Sources close to the couple, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of victimisation, shared details about the breakdown of their relationship. According to these insiders, Phumeza officially ended things in July this year. She has told Mnqobi that she wants out of the marriage and has already instructed her lawyers to file for divorce.

Phumeza, known for her role as the tv host for the tv show Abandoned, alleges that Mnqobi, who rose to fame with the hit song Uyangicomela alongside music hybrid Shana, cheated on her. She also claims that he subjected her to emotional and psychological abuse.

“Phumeza said Mnqobi cheated on her, and that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. She tried to forgive him but she found it impossible because he had betrayed her trust. You see, when you cheat, other women can forgive you, but Phumeza is unfortunately not one of those,” revealed a source close to the couple.

Before the cheating allegations surfaced, the couple reportedly had frequent arguments. “They differed a lot about how a marriage should exist. They also could not meaningfully or constructively engage in a conversation about it,” the source said.

Initially, Phumeza tried to separate from Mnqobi without involving lawyers, hoping for an amicable split. However, her efforts were unsuccessful, as Mnqobi allegedly did not cooperate. “That made things worse because Phumeza felt that he did not take her efforts to part ways amicably seriously. As a result, she would not settle for mediation once she had kick-started the divorce,” added the insider.

“We just hope that it does not get messy because they still live together even though Mnqobi is currently out of the country. He leaves the country between April and October every year, and we hope that when he returns they will find each other and resolve their differences.”
