Actress, model, and now DJ Pearl Thusi is beaming with pride as her daughter, Thandolwethu Mokoena, officially graduates from high school. Thando, as she is lovingly called, recently celebrated this major milestone in a beautiful ceremony filled with love, laughter, and style.
In a video shared on social media, Pearl can be seen helping Thando prepare for her big day by doing her hair. The two shared a lighthearted conversation about Thando’s school. “You go to an international school,” Pearl said. Thando responded, “I’ve never been to a South African school all my life.” To which Pearl jokingly and honestly replied, “I made sure of that.”
Thando’s graduation was not like most in South Africa. She attended an American international school, which means she wore a traditional graduation cap and gown—something not commonly seen in local schools. For the occasion, Thando looked lovely in a white dress with matching white shoes and sleek, straight hair. Pearl proudly posted on her Instagram story, “Thando finishes high school officially today. What a journey it has been. My baby isn’t a baby anymore. Love you so much @thando_mokoena.”
Fans and celebrities flooded social media with messages of congratulations. Media mogul Basetsana Kumalo wrote a touching message:

This big moment comes not long after Thando’s glamorous prom in April. She wore a stunning black and brown corset gown designed by the famous Gert Johan Coetzee. The gown was elegant and detailed, and Thando couldn’t hide her joy. She wrote a sweet thank-you message to Gert:
“This dress is everything I’ve dreamed of and more. Thank you so much. You are an incredible designer. I had an amazing time brainstorming this dress with you, and it came out even better than we imagined. I’m beyond proud of the work you have done and beyond grateful for everything. I love you.”
Before heading to prom, Thando posed for family pictures with her parents, including her father, sports personality Walter Mokoena. She also showed off her fun side in a playful post, saying, “Prom 2025, but we finna pretend it was an MD.”
