Renowned DJ Oscar Mbo, known for his hit track Yes God, has launched the Oscar Mbo Foundation, bringing hope and support to his hometown of Kriel, Mpumalanga. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Oscar shared that the foundation focuses on donating food parcels and writing materials, ensuring students and families in need receive essential resources.
Having established the non-profit organization (NPO) in his name, the DJ is determined to make a lasting impact. “I’m proudly tracing my roots and part of my journey is through [the] education system provided by my hometown,” he said. “After having done well in my career, especially this year, where I got to travel the world to showcase my skills, partnering with international brands such as Steve Madden and D’usse, and winning awards, I saw it prudent to go back to where it began for me, to celebrate with my community and inspire them.”
The foundation recently visited Sibongamandla High School for a meaningful three-hour session. Oscar Mbo personally handed out exam packs filled with supplies to help students prepare for their exams. A community braai was held to feed the pupils, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere.
Beyond the donations, Oscar also delivered an inspiring motivational speech, offering students guidance on navigating adulthood and pursuing success, no matter their background. “I also did motivational speaking, giving pupils the doorstep of adulthood guidance in navigating the real world, and inspired them that success is possible even if you come from a small town,” he added.
Through his foundation, Oscar Mbo is not only giving back but also encouraging young people to dream big.
