As a new month begins and a new season approach, Spring is coming with beautiful flowers, fresh beginnings and plenty of surprises. But for content creator and cookbook author Onezwa Mbola, the biggest surprise of all came on the 1st of September.
Onezwa Mbola delighted and surprised her fans when she revealed that she is pregnant, sharing the beautiful news in a video that began with what appeared to be a celebration of another kind of growth.
In the video, Onezwa proudly showed off her harvest, including kale, beetroot, strawberries, tomatoes, carrots and cabbage. The garden-to-table moment seemed to perfectly capture the spirit of a new season, with fresh produce representing growth and abundance.
But then came the surprise.
Wearing a beautiful purple dress, Onezwa revealed her pregnancy bump before sharing the words that instantly changed the meaning of the entire video. She said, “I’m also growing a baby.”
The sweet announcement quickly became a talking point among her fans, who flooded the comments section with messages of love and congratulations.
Onezwa also appeared to hint at the gender of her baby by showing a pair of pink Minnie Mouse shoes, suggesting that she’s having a baby girl. In the video, she is wearing a ring, while she also shows her husband’s hand, with both of them holding the tiny Minnie Mouse shoes.
The intimate moment gave fans a glimpse into what appears to be an exciting new chapter for the couple.
Among those celebrating the news was content creator Kay Yarms, who congratulated Onezwa, saying, “Congratulations mama.”
Bontle Modiselle also shared her excitement, commenting, “Aww yay! Congratulations.”
Zola Nombona joined the celebrations, writing, “Congratulations baby!”
The pregnancy announcement comes just months after Onezwa stepped into another major chapter in her life, this time as an author with her cookbook, A Food Love Story. The book, which was published in May.
A Food Love Story brings together simple, hearty and delicious dishes while exploring the deeper connections between food, people, land and ancestral traditions. Through the book, Onezwa connects food with memories and heritage, creating something that goes beyond what is served on a plate.
Now, as Spring approaches, Onezwa appears to be embracing yet another kind of growth, one that is far more personal and precious.
From growing vegetables to “growing a baby,” the timing of her announcement makes the beginning of a new season feel even more meaningful.
