Get ready for an exhilarating ride through the world of law, love, and betrayal with Showmax’s latest original series. Premiering on September 5, 2024, “Law, Love & Betrayal” is a 13-episode legal drama that promises to captivate viewers with its rich storyline and stellar cast.
According to Showmax Stirues, leading the ensemble are Nimrod Nkosi and Pearl Modiadie, both seasoned actors known for their compelling performances. Nkosi, famous for his roles in “Utatakho,” “Isibaya,” and “The Queen,” steps into the shoes of Gatsha Gumede, the founder of Gumede & Associates, a prestigious law firm in Sandton. “Showmax has raised the bar in terms of production quality – and the story is enticing,” says Nkosi. “It’s a unique show set in the glitz and glamour world of law, generational wealth, and scheming.”
Modiadie, a SAFTA-winning presenter and actress recognised for her work in “Rhythm City,” “Generations,” “Scandal!,” and “Black Tax,” portrays Ayanda Gumede-Williams, Gatsha’s ambitious and brilliant daughter. “LLB has a mix of everything: law, love, and a lot of betrayal,” she shares. “It will captivate those passionate about law and breathtaking cinematography, as well as those drawn to complex love stories and strong, ambitious women in the corporate world.”
The series follows Gugu Mabaso, played by Dineo Rasedile in her first lead role, a tough township lawyer who battles her way into the slick, family-owned firm in Sandton. There, she uncovers a web of secrets, including her own. “Each episode’s cases are fascinating,” says Rasedile. “While obviously fictionalised, this show isn’t make-believe; we’re quoting real acts and cases.”
Set between Tembisa and Sandton, “Law, Love & Betrayal” boasts a talented supporting cast, including veteran actor Bab’Don Mlangeni, young thespian Anelisa Phewa, Siya Sepotokele, and Thuli Nduvane. The series is produced by Izwi Multimedia and directed by SAFTA winners Nthabiseng Tau, Nthabiseng Mokoena, and Christo Davids, with executive producer Thandi Ramathesele, known for her work on “7de Laan.”
