South African actress Luyanda Zwane was among the stars who graced the exclusive Spinners 2 premiere in Cape Town, bringing her own touch of elegance and excitement to the highly anticipated event.
The world premiere of Spinners Season 2, a co-production of MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, in association with STUDIOCANAL, was showcased at this year’s kykNET Silwerskerm Festival. The critically acclaimed South African series premiered its second season at the festival, with the pilot episode screening on Saturday, 22 August.
Zwane made sure to capture and share some of the beautiful moments from the kykNET Silwerskerm Festival with her followers. The actress also gave fans a glimpse of the beautiful outfit she wore for the special occasion, perfectly matching the glamour of the evening.
Reflecting on the memorable night, Luyanda shared, “A night I’ll never forget.”
Her appearance comes as excitement continues to build around the return of Spinners, a series that captured audiences with its gripping story, action and powerful portrayal of life, ambition and survival.
Spinners Season 2 will premiere on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) on 25 October.
Season 1 introduced viewers to Ethan (Cantona James), a 17-year-old from the Cape Flats who became entangled in gang life while doing everything he could to support his younger brother. His path began to change when he discovered spinning and realized that his natural ability behind the wheel could offer him an escape from the streets. However, finding a way out was not as simple as he had hoped, as Ethan continued to face the pull of his past while trying to create a different future.
In Season 2, the Underdogs have come a long way, turning their lives around and making a name for themselves as successful spinning stars in Johannesburg. Ethan and his friends are now living a life that seems worlds apart from the violence and uncertainty they once experienced. For Ethan, this new chapter appears to be the fresh start he has always dreamed of, giving him opportunities to shape his future on his own terms. Yet, as he soon discovers, escaping the past does not necessarily mean the past is ready to let go.
Speaking to TRUELOVE, Zwane vowed that viewers are going to feast when the new season arrives. Describing her experience working on the production, she said, “I feel like how one would feel like after drinking from a well after a long walk at the desert… absolutely refreshing. Working with the team was absolutely exhilarating, reviving and life changing. South Africa is about to feast. The game is changing for the better, God restores!”
With the second season promising new challenges, opportunities and plenty of drama, fans now have even more reason to look forward to seeing what comes next. And if Luyanda Zwane’s words are anything to go by, Spinners Season 2 is set to give South African viewers plenty to talk about.
