Reality TV star and former Big Brother Mzansi season 5 housemate Nate Setwaba has officially stepped into the beauty industry in a bold and exciting way. She launched her brand-new salon, Nate Artistry, at the SAB headquarters in Joburg on Thursday, 20 November. At just 26 years old, Nate is already proving that she is not afraid to dream big and make those dreams happen.

Nate, who is also a qualified medical orthotist and prosthetist, said this launch is only the start of a bigger vision she has for herself and her brand. According to Daily Sun, Nate told Daily Sun that she is building something that goes far beyond just a beauty space. “We’re doing a media launch for Nate Artistry for people to get to know the brand. We’ll be selling different beauty products, including hair, make-up, lash lines, make-up boxes. The salon is only the beginning. There’s a lot of work happening behind the scenes,” she said.

Nate, whose full name is Fortunate Setwaba, is a Joburg-based creative and beauty entrepreneur who rose to fame because of her humour, style and realness on Big Brother Mzansi. Since then, she has grown into a successful make-up artist, digital content creator and mental-health advocate. She has used her mix of medical knowledge and creativity to shape Nate Artistry into a space that feels both professional and deeply personal.

She explained that her drive has always pushed her to explore different opportunities and never limit herself. “I’m an independent entrepreneur. I’m always thinking of new ways to grow my brand. I don’t like boxing myself in. I love make-up, and this is my way of sharing it with people on a bigger scale,” she said.

The vision behind Nate Artistry is to make beauty feel expressive and transformative. Nate said her medical background helps her understand facial structure and confidence, which makes her services more thoughtful and intentional. The new beauty hub will offer make-up consultations, hair and hair-care products, and a full range of beauty essentials.

What makes Nate Artistry stand out, Nate said, is the emotion behind everything they do. “It’s about making people feel seen and understood. Beauty is not a one-size-fits-all.”

She also shared meaningful words of encouragement for young women who are working hard to follow their dreams. “My parents never boxed me in. Every time I wanted to do something, I’d sit them down and say, ‘Please, support me, even if you don’t understand it today.’ And that’s what I want to tell all the girls out there. Follow your dreams. Don’t let anyone force you into one thing.”

Nate added that she has worn many hats, including photographer, modelling coach, medical practitioner, make-up artist and content creator. She believes young people should never be afraid to try something new. “If something excites you, do it. If it fails, it’s okay. It’s better to try than to wonder if it could’ve worked. Just go for it,” she concluded
