Two years have passed since Natasha Joubert, now known as Natasha Vermaak after getting married earlier this year, was crowned Miss South Africa 2023 — but the memories of that life-changing night are still as fresh as ever for her.

The model and entrepreneur took to Instagram to share a throwback to the exact moment she was crowned on 13 August 2023. Alongside photos and videos of herself walking on stage, crying tears of joy, and soaking in every second, Natasha wrote:

“2 years. 13 August 2023. When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen. I remember these moments so clearly, so vividly. I was so present that night, and I had never surrendered more to my fate than I did on 13 August 2023.”

She also opened up on her Instagram Stories, giving fans a deeper look into her emotions during that night. “The shock hit me like a wave, from here I remember very little. My crowning moment was pure shock. I remember how present I was that night. I truly enjoyed every second,” she shared.

Just three days ago, Natasha posted another throwback — this time a picture of her holding the Miss South Africa 2023 crown. She captioned it, “A year ago today was my last day as Miss SA. I posted these a year ago, and don’t know why they aren’t on my feed. 3 Memories to forever and everrr cherish!”

Her fans quickly filled the comments with love and admiration, proving that in their eyes, she will always be Miss South Africa. One follower, Aneoosthuysen, wrote: “How was this two years ago already? Still so proud, and so loved.” Another fan, ghee_ann, shared, “God is so faithful. Watching you being crowned from my laptop screen, surrounded by friends in our little student apartment, was surreal. You were radiant, powerful, and SO clearly destined for that crown. Luv u forever, our Miss SA.”

Natasha’s anniversary post comes just as Miss South Africa 2024, Mia Le Roux, also took a moment to reflect on her own crowning a year ago. Mia, the first deaf woman to be crowned Miss South Africa, expressed her gratitude to Bonang Matheba, who hosted the event. She wrote, “Will never forget how loudly @bonang_m screamed my name as Miss SA 2024 so I can hear, and how she immediately stepped in once the media were asking me questions that I struggled to hear. Forever thank you @bonang_m. The Miss South Africa Finale is what it is because of Bonang.”
