Building on previous Showmax Masterclasses—featuring industry legends like Bonko Khoza and director Mandla M—this session highlights Ben-Mazwi’s unique insights into thriving in the entertainment industry. Fresh off hosting the Essence Film Festival in New Orleans and winning Best Actress at the 2024 National Film and Television Awards, Ben-Mazwi offers a masterful blend of talent, ambition, and business acumen.
In her Masterclass, Ben-Mazwi emphasises the importance of purpose. “My vision is to be the epitome of God’s unlimited glory. This personal ‘why’ keeps me going, knowing that if I can inspire a young girl, then I have fulfilled my mission,” she shares. Her focus on building a globally recognized brand guides her professional choices, ensuring every project aligns with her vision.
The actress encourages artists to think strategically, advising on setting quarterly financial and career goals while exploring diverse income streams like voice work and commercials. “Voice work and commercials are excellent for steady cash flow,” she notes, emphasising how financial planning creates room for flexibility, such as sabbaticals, while sustaining career growth.

She credits her “actor’s toolbox,” which includes skills like Muay Thai and dialect coaching, as essential for landing diverse roles. “Being versatile isn’t just about acting; it’s about adapting to roles and expectations in different markets,” she explains.
