Musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke is expected to appear at the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court today, as reported by Sunday World. The month-long hitmaker faces charges stemming from a case opened against him in 2022. According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, Shebeshxt is currently out on bail and will be in court for plea and trial.
“The matter is set down for plea and trial on July 11, 2024, at Lebowakgomo Regional Court D,” Malabi-Dzhangi confirmed. The case involves an allegation that Chauke stabbed a man in Lebowakgomo.
However, there is uncertainty surrounding Shebeshxt’s ability to attend court as he recovers from a serious leg injury sustained in a car accident last month. Last week, his lawyer, Lot Ramusi, and a family spokesperson revealed that the musician had been discharged from the hospital and was recuperating at home.
“He is out of hospital. He was discharged yesterday. He is recovering at home and he is getting better,” Ramusi said, highlighting the fragile state of the artist’s health.
The accident, which occurred two weeks ago, was a tragic event that claimed the life of Shebeshxt’s nine-year-old daughter. The musician was on his way to drop off his girlfriend and daughter at her home before heading to an ANC Siyanqoba rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo when his car collided with a truck.
At the time of his discharge from the hospital, it was unclear if Shebeshxt would be physically able to appear in court today. As the legal proceedings unfold, fans and the public remain anxious about the outcome of both his health and his court case.
