Popular radio personality Selby “Selbeyonce” Mkhize has made a bold move in her career. Just a day after hosting her final show on Ukhozi FM, she revealed that she’s joining Gagasi FM as the new voice of their afternoon drive show.
Sharing her excitement on social media, Selbeyonce posted a photo alongside her new co-hosts, SPHEctacula and DJ Naves. The caption read: “And here we are!!!! The Gagasi Fast lane 15:00-18:00 Monday to Friday.”
Her new home, Gagasi FM, gave her a royal welcome with a playful and fiery post: “Checkmate ♔ The secret’s out! All along, besinibambe nge-surprise. Kodwa manje sesivele sakhipha i-Ace yethu . The Queen of flair, fire, and fearlessness, Selbeyoncé is officially part of The Gagasi Fast Lane fam!”
This exciting news comes shortly after Mkhize announced her exit from Ukhozi FM, a station she served for 13 years. Her farewell post was filled with emotion and gratitude.
“The time has come for me to say goodbye to the mighty UkhoziFM. What an amazing 13 years it has been,” she said.
“Jehova I don’t even know what to say or where to start. God, I thank you for the talent you have given me and I never take it for granted. Thank you Lord for the best job in the world. The opportunities you have granted me, the people I have met and worked with, the lives I have touched. Nkosi Ngiyabonga.”
She also thanked her loyal listeners: “Ngifuna ukubonga wena mlaleli. For the love you have given me throughout the years, ukungamukela kulo Msakazo ngezandla ezimhlophe. Oh what a great time we had together.”
Mkhize’s departure left many fans in shock, but it was clear that it was a decision she made with love and purpose.
Ukhozi FM also paid tribute to her contribution. Lwazi Mthabela, the Business Manager of Ukhozi FM, praised her influence and commitment: “Selby has been an invaluable member of our family. Her commitment and enthusiasm have significantly contributed to the success of the station,” he said.
