Minister Fikile Mbalula confirmed on his twitter account that South African musician Senyaka Kekana has passed on. The minister recieved the news from DJ Mahoota- Zynne Sibika.
“It is indeed a great loss, Senyaka was no small feat. He contributed to Arts and Culture,” said Mbalula.
The cause of Senyaka’s death is still not known.
“This came as a shock, it came like a Tsunami because we did not expect it as we never heard news of him being sick,” said Mbalula.
Fikile further reveals that Senyaka was actually working on releasing a new album.
“Just a month ago I was listening to Senyaka with T-bo Touch. He was saying that he is planning on releasing an album,” he said.
Senyaka Kekana is popularly known to most for his movie; ‘Moruti Wa Tsotsi.’
Minister Mbalula was also quoted saying that the Arts and Culture as well as South Africa has become poorer without Senyaka.
“May his soul rest in peace.”
