Meyiwa’s Left Broke After Senzo’s Death!

It’s been almost a year since Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was killed in his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home.

The death of the talented young man left the whole nation in tears even more so his best friend Itumeleng Khune heart broken.

Senzo’s death has also left the family heart broken and reports suggest that they’re really struggling financially.

Sam Meyiwa, Senzo’s father has revealed that the family is too broke to afford to pay for a number of traditional ceremonies for their son.

“Sometimes we even go to bed with empty stomachs. My son was a breadwinner,” Sam tells City Press.

Sams shares that the lack of money and the feud that the family has with Kelly has left them unable to go through with the ceremonies to allow Senzo to rest in peace.

“We need to perform ukubuyisa for Senzo but we don’t have the money.”

“We need R10 000 for a cow and R650 for a goat. If we don’t do the ritual, my son will never rest in peace,” he adds.

Sam confirms that if they do get the money for the ceremony, Senzo’s wife Mandisa and their kids will attend the ceremony but he refused to comment on whether or not Kelly and little Thingo will be joining the family.
