Maps Maponyane’s Heartfelt Tribute To Lucas Radebe.

If Maps Maponyane is not one of the most humble celebrities that you know in SA then you’re definitely following the wrong people.

The one thing that we’ve noticed about the actor and model is that he has his deep days and when he gets deep, he gets extra deep.

The last time we saw Maps writing something this heartfelt was when he shared his birthday message to his ‘not BAE’ Nomzamo Mbatha.

In a rather lengthy and touching message Maps paid tribute to one of his hero’s Lucas Radebe, and shared how meeting him was one experience that he’ll never forget.

“This is one of the men I grew up looking up to. So when he came up to me to tell me he had been watching me and was proud of me and all that I had achieved, I was naturally blown away,” he starts off.

One Of The Men I Look Up To…

This is one of the men I grew up looking up to, Lucas Radebe, South African and World renowned footballer with a great story and inspiring journey; so when he came up to me to tell me that he had been watching me and was proud of me and all that I had achieved I was naturally blown away. I told him I didn’t really deserve that compliment but thanked him nonetheless. “It may not seem like much now but trust me it is, stay focused, you’re on the right track and you’re doing more than you think…” Personally I’ve always believed in myself but people such as him have put the bar up so high that it’s hard not to be hard on yourself and be hungry for a certain greatness that awaits you, whatever it may be. But things don’t always go to plan and doubting yourself is a trap that becomes easy to be lured and eventually fall into. I’m used to failure now and that’s what keeps me taking risks and fuels the pursuit of excellence. It reminded me of this: The people whom you admire are just people. They are people who struggled, who battled insecurities, who failed, and who got back up again. If they can do it, why can’t you? It’s not easy, it never is but the only limits you have are the ones you put in place. #Legend #Motivation #Unlimited
