Little Girl Teaches Ntando Rambani How to Read in Afrikaans

Actress and TV producer Ntando Rambani has warmed hearts after sharing a sweet video of a young girl teaching her how to read in Afrikaans.

Ntando posted the adorable clip on Instagram, showing herself and the little girl reading together while laughing and enjoying the fun learning experience. The video highlighted not only the child’s confidence but also Ntando’s passion for encouraging education and creating meaningful moments with children.

Sharing the special encounter, Ntando wrote:

“Met the sweetest little Afikile today. She has so much love and passion for learning and reading, and the funniest, smartest energy.

Today she taught me Afrikaans, and in return I taught her how to read in 3 languages (English, Xhosa and Sotho).

I absolutely love having your kids here at the salon. Not just to grow and care for their hair, but to grow their minds and love for learning too. They’re family to us too.

Thank you for trusting us with your little ones.”

The heartwarming exchange showed that learning can happen anywhere, even during a visit to the salon. While Afikile proudly taught Ntando Afrikaans, Ntando returned the favour by helping her read in English, Xhosa and Sotho, making it a beautiful moment of sharing knowledge across different languages.

Ntando has been making education a priority at her salon. Recently, she announced that her brand-new Fourways salon now has a dedicated reading corner called Sbahle Siyafunda, which means “we are beautiful and we are learning.” The space was created to inspire children to develop a love for books while visiting the salon.

She also revealed that the reading corner is now open to children’s book authors who would like to showcase their work and introduce young readers to new stories.

Ntando said:

“We are now opening Sbahle Siyafunda to children’s book authors. We want you to come and display right here in this corner so our little children, our little ones can come and discovers new stories.”

She also invited authors to become part of the initiative by writing:

“ATTENTION Children’s books Authors!! Our kids are ready for NEW stories. Are you in? Please bring your books to our Sbahle Siyafunda corner, the reading corner at Sbahle Siyakhula Salon @sbahlesiyakhula. What’s in it for you: Display your books in-store. Monthly read-aloud sessions with our little clients. Sell your books directly to parents.”

Through moments like her meeting with Afikile and the launch of the reading corner, Ntando continues to show that her salon is more than a place for hair care. It is also becoming a space where children are encouraged to learn, read, explore new languages and discover the joy of books.
