Lerato Kganyago Clears The Air On Allegations That Bonang Matheba Left Metro FM Because Of Her. There are a lot of industry beefs that we have been following but some celebrity tiff’s are a bit exaggerated. Case in point Lerato Kganyago’s beef with former colleague Bonang Matheba who suddenly quit the show hours before going on air.
Bonang Matheba who hosted Metro FM’s The Front Row for three years quit the show in 2017 after being told of the stations line up hours before going on air. Among the changes that were made, Lerato Kganyago was brought on to co-host the show with her and clearly Bonang was not having it.
In a previous interview, Kganyago shared how devastated she was when people blamed her for Bonang’s exit and claims to have wept for days. The businesswoman labelled the drama the darkest time in her radio career but things have since been on the up for her. After the dust settled, the show was re-branded and Lerato found her feet as the co-host of The Bridge with Dineo Ranaka. Lerato has made it clear that there is no bad blood between her and Bonang.
“I think my darkest moment and I’m not trying to blame anyone, but it was the day when I actually did the show Bonang on that day and I got blamed for her leaving the show.” Lerato said.
Even though a few years have since gone by since Bonang’s Metro FM days, Lerato clearly still gets questions about her alleged beef with Bonang however, she is more free to speak about it now. During the Podcast And Chill interview, MacG alleged that Lerato is the reason that Bonang lost her job at Metro which Lerato blatantly denied.
Kganyago claims she had nothing to do with Bonang’s exit at the station who left the station because she wanted to and he is tired of the getting all the blame for Matheba’s resignation. Lerato shared that she stayed because radio is her first love and was not about to lose out on a pay cheque because of someone else.
“I stayed because I wanted to and radio is what I f*cken love do you understand. I’m not going to compromise my f*cken meal for somebody else because if the tables were turned, you wouldn’t do the same sh*t” Lerato said.
Kganyago made it clear that she was promoted by the station because she works hard and stands in for everyone at the station which is why they afforded her the opportunity. Lerato claims she now has her eyes set on bagging the drive time slot which is usually 15:00 to 18:00 and we think she would do an amazing job as the host.
