Renowned producer and philanthropist Lebo M is taking a bold stand against gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF). Through his Lebo M Foundation, he is rallying behind TV star Minnie Dlamini as she takes legal action against Podcast and Chill hosts Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho and Sol Phenduka. At the same time, he is leading from the front by joining the upcoming Walk Against GBVF on 30 August 2025 at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (outside open area), starting at 08h00 AM.

In a powerful statement shared over the weekend and reported by The Citizen, Lebo M urged South Africans to stand with Minnie Dlamini and all survivors of GBV.

“This is not just Minnie’s fight, it is South Africa’s fight. Too many of our mothers, sisters and daughters live in fear every day,” he said.

He stressed that the issue of GBV can no longer be ignored or hidden. “We can no longer allow GBV to remain a private issue hidden behind closed doors. The courts must hear the voices of women, and as a nation we must refuse to be silent,” he added.

His comments follow the wave of public support for Minnie Dlamini, who recently opened up about her own experience as a survivor. Her bravery has reignited national conversations about justice, healing, and accountability.

Dlamini is suing MacG and Sol Phenduka for R2.5 million over offensive remarks made on Podcast and Chill. Court papers reveal that she is demanding R1 million in damages for herself and an additional R1.5 million to be donated to a women’s organisation. She accused the podcasters of hate speech and harassment, saying:

“This isn’t just about me. It’s about holding people accountable for normalising the degradation of women under the guise of entertainment. It’s time we draw a line.”

The Lebo M Foundation, well-known for its community advocacy, has pledged to stand with survivors of GBV not only in words but in action. The foundation has committed to engaging directly with survivor networks, including WhatsApp support groups, to ensure that the voices of victims are brought into national conversations.

“The time for silence has ended. The time for justice is now,” the foundation declared.

By supporting Minnie Dlamini’s legal fight and physically joining the walk in Soweto, Lebo M is making it clear that GBV is not a women’s issue alone — it is a national crisis that needs every citizen’s voice and action
