Voice Of Africa singer Kelly Khumalo is booked and busy and if often seen performing at events and benefits on social media. The reality star was reportedly booked to sing at an event and was paid upfront but failed to show up and do her duties.
It was reported by the Daily Sun publication that Kelly is in hot water with event organizer and founder of South African Heroines Awards Caroline Mosiamo after the singer was booked to perform in Bloemfontein at an event to honour women and those living with a disability.
According to the publication, Khumalo was paid R30 000, was booked for in a hotel not to mention the R6 000 that was allocated to alcohol and snacks on Kelly’s request. Apparently Kelly did arrive at the event but refused to perform and sat in the car. The singer reportedly went back to the hotel without even making an appearance.
It appears that Khumalo and her team are not prepared to refund the money as as Kelly’s manager refused to perform at their next event upon request to make up for the event missed. The manager apparently claims that he would not be asking the singer to return next time because she spent money to travel to Bloemfontein.
“I asked her manager if she could perform at our next event to make up for it but he told me Kelly wouldn’t because she spent money to travel to Bloemfontein… He didn’t say why Kelly decided not to perform. That means they are refusing to pay back the money” the publication quoted Caroline.
This not the first time that the singer has been called for using people and dumping them after following reports of a skin lightening specialist named Ashley Hariper Sad who claims to have offered his skin lightening products worth thousands to the singer for free in exchange for her to promote them to her millions of followers on social media.
Ashley was left disappointed when all of a sudden, Kelly blocked him social media and stopped all forms of communication. the doctor claims that the singer used his products for three years and has him to thank for her skin tone today.
“My problem was that she used my products for 3 years. I was the person who made her the colour she is today,” he said.
Kelly responded to the allegations claiming that she is not obligated to work with the doctor as she has many other skin lightening products from other company’s.
