Real Housewives of Durban star Jojo Robinson has shared a heartfelt letter to her former best friend Nonku Williams, leaving fans emotional and reflecting on the end of one of the show’s most beloved friendships.
Jojo, known for her bold personality and deep loyalty, opened up on Instagram about how difficult it has been to let go of her friendship with Nonku. She posted a touching message alongside pictures of the two during happier times.
She wrote: “The way I’ve avoided this post… but it’s gotten to the point where I just want to address it. Seeing comments saying this friendship didn’t matter, that it was just for work, is really hard to see. It was very real and it was filled with love and sisterhood.”
Addressing Nonku directly, Jojo continued: “Dear Nonkie Nonks, I hope you find peace and love with whoever you choose in this life. I loved every second we spent together and I’m forever grateful for the friendship we shared… I understand that you are going in a different direction, and I hope one day we get to talk again in person.”
Jojo ended the post with a message to their fans, often referred to as “Joku Nation.” “Thank you for believing in love and friendship… I’m sorry we let you down.”
Her message quickly gained support and sympathy from fans and fellow stars. Reality TV star Slee commented, “Aww Jojo, this is beautiful. May you both find your way back to each other. PS: Jo, you are an incredible person.”
Khanyi Mbau also added: “To both of you, may growth and understanding come from this experience. Love and light, my girlies.”
The emotional post came shortly after part two of the Real Housewives of Durban Season 5 reunion aired on Friday, 11 July.In the episode, the cast openly discussed the breakdown of the “Joku” friendship.
Tension between Jojo and Nonku grew during the season, especially after cast members accused Jojo of being Nonku’s “back-up singer,” a term used by Sorisha Naidoo. Things worsened when fans noticed that the two had unfollowed each other on social media.
Nonku did not attend the reunion, but Jojo was present and opened up about how confused and hurt she feels.
“It’s been a lot, especially from people on social media. I feel like no one believed in us. And just when people started calling us ‘Joku’… I don’t know what happened. I still don’t understand.”
Sorisha then revealed that Nonku may have moved on to a new friendship, possibly with Real Housewives of Pretoria star Bev Steyn. “I feel her trajectory has changed… it’s not that she doesn’t love Jo, but she may not have space for both friendships,” Sorisha explained.
Jojo agreed, saying that Nonku and Bev share the same religion, which might have brought them closer. Things got even more painful when unseen footage was shown of Nonku telling Sorisha and Londie London that her friendship with Jojo was just for Instagram. Sorisha tried to soften the blow, saying Nonku may have just had too much to drink at the time.
Despite the sadness, Jojo’s message shows maturity and forgiveness. She ended her letter with peace and love—reminding everyone that sometimes, even the strongest friendships can go through painful seasons.
