Reality TV star and content creator Jojo Robinson has shared a major health update after revealing that she no longer needs kidney stone surgery.
The The Real Housewives of Durban star took to social media to celebrate the news, explaining that her body managed to pass most of the kidney stones naturally before her scheduled procedure.
“How you dance when you find out you no longer need to do the Kidney stone surgery, again,!!!!!!! Turns out my body decided to handle business all on its own. No surgery needed,” she wrote.
Jojo revealed that three of the four stones had passed naturally, while the remaining one is now very small.
“3 of the 4 stones passed on there own and the other one is so little we’re giving it till next year to see if it passes to.. THE RELIEF. if you suffer with kidney stones you get it,” she added.
The reality TV star also opened up about the painful health battle she has faced over the years. According to Jojo, she previously struggled with recurring UTI infections and lower back pain without realising they were linked to kidney stones.
“On another level. if you were like me and you suffered from regular UTI infections and lower back pain, it could actually be a sign of underlying kidney stones,” she shared.
Jojo explained that her condition became serious two years ago when she nearly lost one of her kidneys after an emergency situation.
“I nearly lost my one kidney (trust me, you dont want it to get there. its one of the most painfull things you could go through),” she wrote.
This time, however, doctors detected the stones early after she went for tests following another UTI. She then focused on trying to flush the stones out naturally before her surgery date.
“I did everything in my power to flush them out before we had scheduled another surgery to remove them and it actually worked,” she said.
Jojo also praised Dr Padaychee from Alberlito Hospital in Ballito for helping her through the process and encouraged others to seek medical advice if they suspect kidney stones.
She went on to share some of the things that helped her, including drinking two to three litres of water a day, lemon water, walking, apple cider vinegar, and supplements.
Still, she warned followers not to self-diagnose and stressed the importance of seeing a doctor first.
“This is not to say this is what you do. This is just advise on what helped me.. but like I say ALWAYS see a doctor first,” she wrote.
Ending off her post on a joyful note, Jojo said she finally feels relieved after the emotional weight of the situation was lifted.
“but for me.. ITS HAPPY DANCE. THE WEIGHT that is gone right now..”
