Israel Moketse-Zulu Reveals Why He Is Leaving #GomoraMzansi. The acting world can be tricky for viewers because of how uncertain characters and roles on drama’s are. TV lovers have grown accustomed to certain roles on popular shows who a lot of the time get written off, which we think is rather heartbreaking. Mzansi Magic drama Gomora has become a fan favourite for its thrilling story and talented cast.
Other the years, the cast has grown larger and the audience has taken a liking to some characters more than others. Don played by veteran actor Israel Zulu is a definite favourite but unfortunately his time on the show has come to an end. Speaking to Sunday World, Zulu confirmed the news stating his contract was not renewed and he is peace with the productions decision.
“Yes am leaving. My contract was not renewed,” the actor said.
Zulu who joined the show’s second season a few months ago shared that this is a chance to give another deserving actor a platform to showcase their talent and there is no bad blood between him and the production. According to the show’s public relations department, Zulu’s storyline has come to an end and there are no underlying reasons for his departure. Although his character is still onscreen, Zulu has already cut ties with the production.
“We can confirm that he was not fired but his story came to an end. Although his character is still on screens at the moment, Zulu has already wrapped shooting,” the show’s PR department told Sunday World.
Upon joining the production, Zulu described his role to the Daily Sun publication who hustled to live life and left evrything behind to go and live his best life with a rich woman. Unfortunately after the woman dies, he found himself back in Gomora, having to reconcile with his baby mama and son.
“I’ll be playing Don. He had a relationship with Zodwa, played by Sannah Mchunu, and they had Teddy. He dumped Zodwa for a rich woman and went to live in mansions. Unfortunately, the woman recently died,”
“Now he’s down and out as the wife’s family took everything and he has returned to Alex. He’ll come back with his daughter Sibongile. Don will also be competition for Mam’Sonto, played by Connie Chiume. He struggles a lot after returning and ends up getting into hijacking. Soon he starts taking over Sonto’s operations,” he said
Fans seemed to be devastated by the news of the actors departure however, they are also revealed as they thought the actors true potential was not unleashed on the show.
