In a dramatic turn of events, Sipho Ndlovu, renowned for his role in The Wife, has taken legal action against Thandeka Mhlanga, a woman who recently accused him of assault on social media. The allegations have led to a series of legal maneuvers, unfolding a complex narrative of accusation and defense.
Ndlovu, who plays a prominent role in Isitha , filed a case at the Douglasdale police station in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening. Speaking to Sunday World, he vehemently denied Mhlanga’s claims, asserting that she had fabricated the assault story. According to Ndlovu, Mhlanga never actually opened a case against him, despite her assertions online. Instead, she was taken into custody by the police at her workplace on Thursday morning.
In his defense, Ndlovu stated, “I never assaulted her. And if you can check the pictures that she posted you will see it does not reflect what she said on social media. She told people she drove to my place and then I blocked her when she tried to get inside the house. And I slapped her and put her down.” He further revealed that security footage shows Mhlanga climbing the wall of his gate, contradicting her narrative of the events. These videos have been handed over to the police as evidence.
Ndlovu accused Mhlanga of attempting to tarnish his reputation with false claims of gender-based violence, a grave and sensitive issue. “We are dealing with someone who is bitter and wants to destroy my name with something so sensitive and serious like gender-based violence. You cannot use such just because you are hurt and lie about being assaulted. She was caught on the wall,” he stated.
Adding to the complexity, the security guard on duty during the incident has also opened a case of assault, claiming he was attacked by Mhlanga.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the developments, stating that a case of common assault, crimen injuria, and defamation of character has been opened against Mhlanga. “The suspect has been arrested and will be taken to Randburg court on Friday,” Kweza said.
