In case you were wondering, no she wasn’t advertising her energy drink on air for free. The SABC has decided to suspend Unatgi Msengana from Metro FM after a little Twitter ‘rant’ she had.
This comes after the DJ and singer’s comments about racism at Stellenbosch University rubbed up a few listeners in the wrong way.
Not only that she ended up having a very nasty direct message conversation with one of her followers and that ended with her calling them a psycho bi***.
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago told Desting magazine that Unathi will be off air until the matter has been investigated further.
He added: “The questions she asked on air were valid and there was nothing wrong with her questions. We decided to put her off until we finish engaging with her about the issue. We have no control over DJ’s and what they do in their private space, but our DJs should know that they are the representatives of the brand.”
He added that he’s not quite sure when she will be back on air. “She could be back at work tomorrow or any other day. The sooner we finish engaging with her, the quicker she can be scheduled back on air.”
