Mother’s Day in South Africa was filled with heartfelt messages, precious memories, and dazzling gifts as some of the country’s biggest celebrities paused their busy lives to show love to the most important women in their lives – their mothers. From diamond necklaces to touching words, the stars didn’t hold back when it came to expressing their gratitude.

TV host and producer Minnie Dlamini pulled out all the stops to celebrate her beloved mother. She shared a heartfelt tribute alongside a stunning picture, writing:

“Happy Mother’s Day Bhubesi kaBaba. To be raised by this woman is my greatest gift. I’ve always watched in awe how she would make miracles happen right before my eyes! No stone unturned for her cubs and prayers that my son will inherit and also win from.”

She added how her mom taught her kindness, bravery, and resilience: “She’s taught me to be kind and empathetic but also to be brave and not take sh*t even if it means people will talk. My fighter, my protector, my prayer warrior, my EVERYTHING.”

To top it all off, Minnie gifted her mom a sparkling diamond flower-shaped necklace from Nungu Diamonds.

Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni, Miss South Africa 2015, also celebrated the women who shaped her – her mother and grandmother. With a glowing selfie, she proudly wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies and the mother figures. Also, I’m looking at my mom and gran and I’m realising I’m gonna be pretty forever.” With a little humour.

“I gained another mother this year. Happy Mother’s Day to both my mamma’s. Thank you for always showing up, teaching me grace, resilience and to be a strong woman. Lief julle!” Her tribute came with beautiful images that radiated love and unity

Radio and TV presenter Pearl Modiadie took a slightly different angle, using the special day to honour her role as a mother to her son, Lewatle. She penned a deeply emotional note:

“Lewatle la Mama, forever and always. I look at him – my Ocean, Lewatle laka, my entire world. I’m honoured to be your mom, my boy, and I’m reminded that even on the hardest days, I’ve been gifted with someone so pure, so full of life, love, and light.”

She also acknowledged her strong support system, thanking those who help her stay balanced while still pursuing her passions. “To all the moms… we are magic. We are strong, even when it feels like we’re juggling the world with tired hands sometimes.”

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the SUPERWOMEN we call moms. May your love, strength and endless sacrifices be celebrated every day. To my sweet little pumpkin pie, thank you for choosing me to be your mom. We love you SO SO much my Chubby Cheeks!”
