In a gripping exclusive interview with SABC, Moses Tembe, the father of the late Anele Tembe, has raised suspicions of foul play surrounding his daughter’s tragic death. Anele, who was in a relationship with the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes at the time, tragically passed away on April 11, 2021, after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town.
Tembe’s interview with Chriselda Lewis sheds light on the events leading up to Anele’s death and unveils unsettling details about her state of mind prior to the incident. He revealed that Anele had previously exhibited signs of distress, including threats of self-harm, but emphasised that this was not indicative of her character.
Despite AKA’s claim that Anele’s death was a result of a suicide attempt, Tembe remains unconvinced and suspects foul play. He expressed a desire for closure, stressing the importance of AKA’s testimony in court. “It has always been critical to have Kiernan in the box, whether as a witness or as an accused, for proper closure required that the last person who was with our daughter to take the stand,” he asserted.
Tembe’s unwavering belief in AKA’s innocence and his insistence on seeking justice for his daughter’s death reflect the profound impact of the tragedy on his family. Recounting the day he received the devastating news, Tembe described the overwhelming grief and disbelief that engulfed him. “Having to go to church, unexpectedly, my brothers came to deliver the very sad news. It was very painful,” he shared. “I was quite guttered, that sinking feeling when you feel like someone’s taking the guts out of your stomach.”
Despite the unbearable pain, Tembe remains resilient, guided by faith and cherished memories of his daughter. “Our hearts remain so shattered into pieces,” he confessed. “By the grace of God, our hearts are still beating.” He fondly remembered Anele as a vibrant and determined young woman who embraced life wholeheartedly. “Anele was quite a lively child who made friends. She was always positively disposed to good environments, she loved reading, and sport and knew what she wanted in life.”
As the quest for truth and justice continues, Moses Tembe’s unwavering determination to uncover the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between a father and his beloved child.
