South African actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa recently opened up about a chilling experience she went through while filming a TV show. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she shared how a particular scene tested her emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.
Using the hashtags #storytime and #talesofathespian, Enhle began by explaining that the incident happened during the final weeks of shooting around 2020 or 2021. She said it was a tough time for her, and things became even more intense during one specific scene where her character had to be initiated into a dark world.
“The scene was my character being initiated into the dark world [eek cringe],” she wrote. “My character was just dark yena nje. And I needed cleansing through prayer every time I got home to separate me and her.”
On the day of filming the unsettling scene, the set design was so realistic that it made her feel extremely uncomfortable. “The set designers had done a great job!!! Too good of a job,” she said. “Red candles lit, sage burning and with every single take, my spirit felt a heaviness, just didn’t feel OK in the environment.”
She wasn’t the only one who felt uneasy. Enhle said she asked her co-stars if they felt the same—and they did. Despite feeling nervous and out of place, she pushed through like a true professional.
“I’ve never felt so uncomfortable, but as a Thespian I had to deliver. So I did,” she said. “Through every line and action, I prayed so hard. At times I even forgot my lines. But thank God I’ve been in the industry for this long and understand that if you relax, everything comes to you.”
In that moment, she said, something powerful happened. The fear and discomfort started to fade, and she felt surrounded by protection.
“I felt carried, and the discomfort and fear just disappeared,” she shared. “I’ve never felt my guides and guardian angels surround me like they did. God was present for me to guard my spirit in a big way.”
She ended her message with a powerful reminder to fans: “All to keep you entertained and most importantly to teach you a lesson that I hope we all learn. Easy come, easy go. KEEP GOD IN YOUR AURA AT ALL TIMES. We’re only human. We need Him.”
