Renowned South African DJ, Ashley Raphala, better known as DJ Shimza, recently encountered a harrowing flight scare on his return journey from Paris to Mzansi. The incident, reported by ZiMoja, detailed an engine problem that arose just over an hour into the flight from Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Despite the potentially alarming situation, the 36-year-old DJ remained remarkably composed, attributing his calm demeanor to trust in technology and faith in a higher power. “I’m really not scared of such things,” he shared. “I believe in technology and the fact that if God decides, there’s nothing I can do. I was not panicking at all.”
Amidst the chaos onboard, DJ Shimza’s primary concern was for his fans eagerly awaiting his upcoming gigs. “It was chaotic inside the aircraft, but my concern was the people who bought tickets and booked their tables,” he explained. Despite the disruption, he maintained a sense of responsibility towards his audience.
Looking ahead, DJ Shimza’s schedule remains packed with performances, including the highly anticipated Kunye event in Ballito, Kwazulu-Natal, on April 6th. With two more gigs lined up in South Africa before jetting off to Paris once again, DJ Shimza’s resilient spirit shines through, undeterred by the turbulence encountered in the skies.
