Oscar Mbo, the renowned DJ and producer, took a meaningful step towards giving back to his community by launching his own foundation, aptly named the Oscar MBO Foundation. The launch took place on the 24th of September 2024, a day that holds great significance as it was also Heritage Day in South Africa.
The foundation’s first initiative saw Oscar MBO’s return to his roots in Mpumalanga, where he visited Sibongamandla Secondary School to inspire and support matric students preparing for their final examinations. More than just a visit, Oscar collaborated with Steve Madden, providing the students with KFC meals and sodas, showing his commitment to both their well-being and academic success.
In a post on his Instagram, Oscar shared the joy of the foundation’s launch, writing, “Day 1 of MANY. We’ve officially launched the Oscar Foundation on the 24th of September 2024, on Heritage Day. A huge thanks to @stevemaddensa for collaborating with us in my quest of starting to give back in my hometown, Sibongamandla Secondary School, to have a motivational session with matriculants ahead of their final exams & hand over a few goodies to go with it. All the best to all of them on their journey!”
The launch was more than just a gesture of goodwill; it marked the beginning of a long-term mission to uplift and motivate young people in his community.
