Controversy seems to always follow Cyan Boujee. The 23-year-old influencer and DJ, whose real name is Honour Zuma, is trending once again — but this time, for all the wrong reasons.

According to Daily Sun, Cyan faced major backlash after going live on TikTok on Wednesday, 9 April, where she appeared visibly drunk. In the live video, she was seen shouting and screaming at her dog. She even admitted to hitting the dog and described it as scared of her.

During the livestream, Cyan could be heard saying: “I paid R10k for you to be born, and these people don’t know that you eat sushi,” referring to her pet. She explained that she became angry because the dog was hiding from her while she was looking for it.

“You wanted to run away from me, but you can’t do that. This dog was very expensive, and it is not going anywhere, even if it doesn’t want to,” she said.

The video caused an uproar online, with many people accusing Cyan of animal abuse and calling for action to be taken against her.

A day later, Cyan posted a follow-up video to explain her side of the story. She admitted that she had “crashed out” and only realised how bad the situation was after watching the video herself.

“Yes, I crashed out. It must happen once. I drank so much, and I didn’t know I’m that depressed after seeing that live video, and you know what, it happens,” she said.

Cyan also opened up about a painful experience from her past that she believes contributed to her depression. She shared that two years ago, she was struggling financially and tried to make quick money through men.

“Two years ago, I was so broke, and I was in a rush to get money, so I tried to get it through men. I met this old guy. He had promised a car, BBL and more and said I must keep him private, and of course, I will keep him private,” Cyan said.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. After a disturbing encounter, the man only gave her R3 000 and then ghosted her.

“I got so depressed and gained so much weight for that month because I had a mission, and I thought it was going to work, and we had agreed, but he scammed me. I told myself that this is not the kind of life I want,” she revealed.

Cyan also shared that losing her photographer recently added to her sadness. Reflecting on the viral video, she said: “Your enemies will think that this is your downfall, but I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if the people I was with drugged me or what because I was too drunk, and I don’t remember anything. I can’t believe I was screaming like that.”
