Christall Kay Mourns the Loss of Douw Steyn, Billionaire Friend and Mentor

Reality TV star Christall Kay is mourning the death of South African billionaire and insurance mogul, Douw Steyn, who passed away at 72 after a prolonged period of illness. Steyn, well-known for his business ventures including Auto & General Insurance, the BGL Group in the UK, and the prestigious Steyn City estate in Johannesburg, was a larger-than-life figure in both the business and social worlds.

Steyn, whose wealth was estimated at £3 billion (R69.94 billion), was also a close friend of former South African President Nelson Mandela. His success was reflected in his position as the 58th wealthiest person in the UK, according to the Sunday Times Rich List of 2024.

Christall Kay took to social media to express her grief, sharing a touching video of the two together. In her post, she wrote, “Today I am overcome with sweet memories and tears hearing of the passing of Billionaire Douw Steyn, my gentle kind heart, who filled my life with such excitement, passion, adventure, and love! An absolute genius, incredible businessman, loving father and utmost gentleman. We did life together for a while, both the triumphs and tragedies!! Thank you for your love, your generosity, and showing me such a wonderful world. You will always be a true inspiration and hold a special place in my heart! RIP.”

Many followers expressed their condolences and speculated about the nature of Christall’s relationship with Steyn. Some recalled her mentions of a former billionaire boyfriend on the reality show Real Housewives of Johannesburg. Reality tv star Jojo Robinson commented, “Oh my gosh.. was he your man’s in the past? Sorry friend.” Another follower echoed, “So this is the Billionaire from your past you were telling us about on RHOJ…condolences babes.”
