The family of late South African rapper Bravo Le Roux has shared an official announcement confirming details of his memorial service. The statement was posted on Instagram, where the family invited the public to join them in remembering and celebrating the life of the beloved artist.
In their announcement, the family wrote:
“The family of Sinesipho Peter, fondly and professionally known as Bravo Le Roux, wishes to formally announce that his memorial service will be held on Thursday, 05 February 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at OR Tambo Hall in Khayelitsha a venue historically known by many as Mew Way.”
Bravo Le Roux, born Sinesipho Peter, was described as a powerful creative and an important cultural contributor whose work left a lasting impact. The family highlighted the deep respect he earned throughout his career, noting that he was “a gifted creative, cultural contributor, and a deeply respected public figure whose work and spirit resonated with audiences both locally and internationally.”
They further reflected on the love surrounding him, sharing that he “was loved by his family, admired by his peers, and cherished by fans across the all spheres for his contribution to the culture in Cape Town and across the nation.” His influence extended far beyond music, touching communities and inspiring many through his artistry and presence.
According to the family, his legacy remains strong. They emphasised that “his legacy continues to live on through his artistry, his influence, and the many lives he touched.” These words reflect the powerful mark Bravo Le Roux left on South Africa’s creative industry and those who followed his journey.
The memorial service will serve as a space for unity and remembrance. The family explained that it “will serve as a moment of collective remembrance, providing family, friends, colleagues, and members of the public with an opportunity to honour and celebrate the life of a man, a family man, a father and a husband who gave so much of himself to his craft and community.”
Members of the public are welcome to attend, with the family extending “an invitation to public servants, industry stakeholders, and members of the public to attend and pay their respects.” However, the family has asked for sensitivity from the media, stating that “members of the media are kindly requested to observe all family protocols, with attendance subject to accreditation and the solemn nature of the service.”
They also noted that “further details regarding the programme and media arrangements will be communicated in due course.”
In closing, the family expressed gratitude for the support they have received, saying they “would like to thank the public for the continued outpouring of love, support, and condolences,” while respectfully asking “for privacy, dignity, and respect as they gather to commemorate the life and legacy of their beloved son, brother, father, husband, friend, and icon.”
The statement ended with a touching tribute: “Issued on behalf of the Peter family in loving memory of Sinesipho Peter (Bravo Le Roux).”
