Bonang Matheba Stuns in Striking Orange Gown at L’Oréal Paris Masterclass

South African TV presenter, media personality and entrepreneur Bonang Matheba once again proved why she remains a force in the world of fashion and beauty as she stepped out in a striking bright orange dress for the L’Oréal Paris South Africa Makeup Masterclass.

The highly anticipated beauty event took place on 19 September 2026 at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg, bringing together some of the country’s biggest beauty and entertainment names for a day filled with beauty, trends and glamour.

Bonang hosted the event as the MC, while renowned makeup artist Harold James served as the official makeup artist. Actress Ama Qamata also stepped into the spotlight as the model of the day, adding to the star-studded lineup.

However, it was Bonang’s glamorous fashion moment that caught the attention of many. The media personality looked stunning in a striking couture halter-neck gown featuring vibrant African-inspired beadwork in green, red and orange.

The gown featured a structured, high-neck halter silhouette decorated with intricate beadwork and embroidery in swirling patterns. A subtle cutout below the bust and a bold chevron-shaped orange panel at the waist added even more detail to the look.

From the hips down, the dress transformed into a dramatic ankle-length skirt covered in colourful fringe and beaded strands in shades of terracotta, ochre and black. The layered detailing gave the gown plenty of movement and texture as Bonang moved around the event.

Taking to social media, Bonang gave her followers a glimpse behind the scenes of the event and her glamorous look.

Her designer, Makililo Nelson A, opened up about the inspiration and creative process behind the show-stopping dress, explaining that the vision was created specifically for Bonang’s L’Oréal Paris appearance.

“For Bonang Matheba for the L’Oréal Paris moment , I wanted to create something that felt rich, sensual, powerful and unapologetically African, but still refined enough for an international beauty stage.

My mood board started with the warmth of African earth and golden hour skin tones, intricate beadwork, rich amber and bronze, and the fluidity of traditional handcrafted details. I was drawn to the paisley inspired motifs and the way the beads and cascading fringe could move, catch the light and come alive with every step.

And because she was hosting, movement was important to me. I wanted a look that didn’t just photograph beautifully, but moved with her, caught the light and held attention from every angle.”

The designer also revealed how the final creation came together after sharing the measurements and sketch with @emaginebybukola.

“When I sent the measurements and my sketch to @emaginebybukola she said “Maklin, I love this concept and weeks later, she delivered something even more beautiful than I had imagined.

I brought the vision. She brought the craftsmanship. Together, we created the moment.”

With its vibrant colours, intricate beadwork and dramatic fringe, Bonang’s gown perfectly complemented the glamour of the L’Oréal Paris occasion and ensured that all eyes were on her as she took centre stage at the highly anticipated masterclass.
