Bonang Makes History As The First Ever Winner Of E! People’s Choice: African Influencer Of The Year Award! 2019 marks 45 years since the E! People’s Choice Awards inauguration and only this year did they introduce a category for African influencers.

For weeks we saw our faves campaign for votes on social mediaand it turns out the B Force for Bonang came out on top. Yes, Bonang won the first ever African Influencer Award for the E! People’s Choice Awards. She came out on top in a tight category that included our other two Mzansi nominees, Minnie Dlamini and Cassper Nyovest. Other nominees were Diamond Platnumz, Davido, WizKid, Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade.

Bonang spoke to TshisaLIVE and shared her excitement on the win describing it as an out of body experience.

“I cried, I really did cry. After crying I called my mom and spoke to her on the phone. My mom is somebody who is very spiritual and believes in prayer, so I had a prayer session with her. It’s one of those things that will probably not hit me until I get to [the awards] and I have seen everything around me … It’s one of those things you don’t dream of. It’s one of those things that you can’t even, you know, put in your plans. It’s an honour. It’s huge,” she said

The E! People’s Choice Awards will be broadcast live from Santa Monica in the US on Monday, November 11 2019 from 4am CAT on E! (DStv channel 124). Congrats to queen B!
