Bonang Announces Major Partnership With International Shoe Brand. If you’re a fan of Bonang Matheba or follow her on social media, then you’d already know that on top of being one of the best Southy exports in media, she also has one of the most gorgeous feet in showbiz. So it comes as no surprise and perfectly fitting that her newest collaboration is with a shoe brand.
Often breaking barriers by being the first is no new to Bonang and her brand. First it was Revlon and Ipanema, now it’s Steve Madden. Bonang has become the first African to collaborate with the New York brand that has been in Africa for a decade now. Bonang will release a holiday collection with the brand. Six different footwear styles and two handbag styles which she says encompass South Africa’s jolly and celebratory December season.
“I’m a shoe girl, an absolute shoe girl. A lot of people know about my huge shoe collection, so this is a very gradual natural progression. I wanted it to be well thought through, to be on an international level, but also to be a brand that I love and is accessible and relatable to a South African girl,” Bonang said on the collaboration.
“I chose a footwear style that encapsulates a mood that says ‘we are finally outside’, but also when you look close enough, you will see that these are shoes that I personally love. That is where it starts for me. Shoes that fit any occasion from red carpet glam to something I would wear with jeans. These shoes are so sparkly and fun, and make one feel pretty and fun,” she explained.
Bonang revealed this is one of the projects she was working on whilst in New York. “People have been wondering and questioning what I was doing in New York, and I am glad that the work I have been putting in is finally coming to fruition. There will be many other projects to be revealed and would want the work to speak for itself,” she said.
The launch which also includes a fashion showcase of the Steve Madden Spring/Summer collection will be held at Zeitz Mocaa Museum in Cape Town on November 7. Congrats Queen B!
