Is there too much Boity on TV? Boity’s new gig sparks #OpenTheIndustry debate. The Club 808 presenter scored a new gig this week as one of the presenters of MTV’s first ever Ridiculousness show in Africa. Whilst this is great news for Boity, social media doesn’t feel she deserves the gig.
Social media is not happy with Boity getting another new gig when there’s jobless talent across South Africa. The announcement sparked a debate which trended on twitter with the hashtag, #OpenTheIndustry.
The criticism didn’t only end with Boity. All the ‘IT’ girls were also thrown into the debate including Bonang, Minnie, Pearl Thusi and Lerato Kganyago. “Dear SABC & DStv We love Boity, Bonang, Pearl, Minnie we need new faces”, one tweep tweeted.

Boity who is currently celebrating her 26th birthday in Madrid seemed unbothered by the debate on whether she deserves the job or not. She took to Instagram writing, “you are worthy of all your Blessings. Don’t get distracted.”
