Black Twitter Reacts To The SAFTAs Revoking Katlego Maboe‘s Award Nomination. The much anticipated South African Film And Television Awards announced the nominees for this years edition, and the masses were happy to see their favourite actors and entertainers get the nod that they deserve. What shook the masses the most was former Expresso host Katlego Maboe bag a nomination in the Best TV Presenter category.

After the news began trending on twitter, the awards platform revealed that Maboe’s nomination has since been withdrawn after the public revealed their disapproval of him following his alleged abuse allegations. The platform mentioned that after careful deliberation, the jury decided to remove him from the category.

“After careful deliberation of concern raised regarding the nomination of Katlego Maboe in the Best TV Presenter public voting category, announced Thursday, April 29 2021, the SAFTAs jury has decided to rescind the nomination” the platform said in a short statement.

The awards platform has since shared an updated list of nominees for the category, and the people of twitter are livid by the “cruelty” of the SAFTAs, claiming that they shouldn’t have included him in the first place, only to kill our hopes by withdrawing the nomination.
