Black Twitter Reacts To Pearl Thusi‘s Call To Disrupt FW De Klerk’s Funeral If He Is Buried By The State. Frederik Willem de Klerk formally known as FW de Klerk is confirmed to have passed away at the age of 85. De Klerk was the last president of apartheid South Africa and also served as Deputy president during Nelson Mandela’s presidential term form 1994 to 1996.
The news of his death has brought about a sigh of relief amongst the black community because of the oppression and the lives that were lost during the apartheid era under his regime’s. The late former presidents death has been trending on twitter and the streets of social media have a lot to say about the topic. One person in particular who is choosing to not bite her tongue is actress and TV personality Pearl Thusi.
Mama Panther has been very vocal about De Klerk’s death and has a huge problem with media claiming that De Klerk was an apartheid revolutionist. Thusi tweeted that if De Klerk were to be given a state funeral, it would be a middle finger to the country and black people who have suffered at the hands of the man.
“If FW DE KLERK gets a state funeral… That will be a huge middle finger to the people who suffered under the apartheid regime in this country” she wrote.
Pearl’s follow up tweet suggested that the funeral be boycotted and disrupted by the country if he were to be given a state burial because she like many other’s would regard it as an insult and a sign of disrespect.
“I’m fact we must disrupt that funeral if it’s declared a state funeral. There’s just no way” she wrote.
Pearl is now trending because of her unapologetic tweets about De Klerk and the masses seem to be divided. Some social media users are game to boycott the funeral while other think that there is nothing that can be done about the situation.
