Black Coffee has becoming an internationally acclaimed DJ but an accident that happened 26 years ago almost ruined his music dreams. Now the DJ is opening up about the day that almost changed it all.
Black Coffee talks about the day he was involved in an accident saying it’s the exact same day Nelson Mandela was released from prison. He described it as the day the country lifelong dream came true not knowing it would be a day he personally wouldn’t want to remember, at least until now.
“While I was out celebrating this moment my world was turned upside down. All my dreams of being involved in music were shattered’, he said. Faith kept him going, he recalls.
“I used to hate this day.. every year it would depress me. But I’ve come a long way since then and I’ve learnt so much about myself. Now I celebrate this day because it changed my life.”
ElleSA is celebrating it’s 20th Anniversary and Black Coffee will be the first local male entertainer to grace the fashion magazine as they celebrate music and fashion. He says he’s learnt to push all the limits and work twice as hard to realize his dreams in music.
