Mzansi Magic is set to amplify the excitement this season with the high-energy theme BAZOZWA, which was revealed at the Big Brother Mzansi season 6 launch event. Hosted at a venue designed to resemble Biggie’s iconic house, the event brought together media and guests for a house-party style reunion, making it a night to remember.

The star-studded guest list included alumni from previous seasons, such as Themba Broly from Big Brother Mzansi Season 3, Big Brother Titans’ Khosi Twala and Siyamthanda Jwacu, and notable figures from S’yamosha and Umlilo like Mich, Makhekhe, Yolanda, Lerato Modise, and many more. The lively atmosphere was kept alive by former housemate Muzi-theMbuzi, who delivered an electrifying DJ set that had guests dancing until the early hours.

The event was hosted by returning presenter Smash Afrika, who led a dynamic Q&A session with Shirley Adonisi, the Channel Director of General Entertainment at Mzansi Magic. During the discussion, Adonisi shed light on the reasoning behind the new theme. She explained, “BAZOZWA is about reclaiming space and making noise, a call to action for a generation that refuses to be ignored and silenced. This time, we are bringing Mzansi a season that will shake the house and the streets like never before.”

BAZOZWA promises to bring a whole new level of intensity to the Big Brother Mzansi experience. The season will feature new game mechanics that will keep both housemates and viewers on their toes. As always, Biggie is known for his surprises, and this season is no exception. Among the big changes is the introduction of two new shows airing on Thursday and Friday nights. One will feature a sit-down with the evicted housemate, while the other will recap the week’s drama.

Adonisi elaborated, saying, “Big Brother Mzansi BAZOZWA will be felt in what you see, what you hear, and how you experience the show. The activities in the house, courtesy of our sponsors, and the housemates, all things will display how loud you can be or how silent you can be, because silence can speak volumes.”

The excitement surrounding the new season is palpable, with a record-breaking number of entries— the highest in Big Brother Mzansi history. This surge in interest highlights just how eager South Africans are to claim their place in the spotlight.

Viewers can expect to meet contestants with big personalities, bold dreams, and a hunger to win both the grand prize and the hearts of the nation. The real question is: who will rise to the challenge?

The event also featured a panel discussion about the upcoming show, Big Brother Mzansi: The Special, a four-part series that will bring together former housemates from Umlilo and S’yamosha to reflect on their journeys since leaving the Big Brother house. Adonisi spoke about the inspiration behind the show: “People always wonder what happens to the housemates after they leave the house. We wanted to give the viewers the closure and the nostalgic feeling of their favourites back in one room again. It’s about closure, entertainment, accountability, and a bit of redemption, but also, it’s about celebrating the impact the show continues to have.”

Khosi Twala, the winner of Big Brother Titans, was part of the panel and shared her experience of life after the show. “When you leave the house, three things hit you at once: you’re confused; there’s pressure from both family and your newfound fan base; and you may not have financial literacy. I had to find a company to help me invest my money. The platform pushes you to grow, and the friendships you build stay with you.”

Fans can catch Big Brother Mzansi: The Special starting Sunday, December 14 at 17:00, and the new season of Big Brother Mzansi (Season 6) will premiere on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 18:00.

The season is proudly sponsored by Lottostar (headline partner), Chillers Punch and King Pie (associate sponsors), as well as Robertsons Spices, Zakhaa Pay, and Schweppes (tactical sponsors).

As Shirley Adonisi aptly put it, “When Biggie shakes the house, all of Mzansi will shake and they’re going to feel us… Bazozwa!”
