Actress Ayanda Borotho has shared a deeply personal and emotional story about a painful time in her life—one that shaped the strong woman she is today.
The 44-year-old star, best known for playing Phumelele on the hit show Isibaya, took to social media to speak openly about being judged and rejected after she fell pregnant at the age of 21.
“Pregnant at 21, I was ostracised, shamed, written off. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t expect applause,” Ayanda wrote honestly.
She explained how people around her made her feel like her life was over. The harsh judgment and rejection made her feel broken and lost. But in that dark time, she said something incredible happened—God showed up and gave her hope.
“The Lord showed me mercy in the darkness. God met me at my end and said, ‘Here… start again. This child will push you towards your light’,” she shared.
That child was her daughter, Ayaphiwa Ngubane, who Ayanda now calls her greatest blessing. She said her daughter helped her rediscover who she truly was and gave her a reason to be strong again.
“I thought it was over for me. They had already decided that some of us would never rise again. And yet You, God, not only remembered us but gave us gifts that are a daily reminder that it was You who dug us out of the graves they buried us in,” she added with powerful words.
Ayanda believes that her daughter wasn’t just a child—she was a gift from God. A sign that life was not over, and that healing, strength, and purpose were still ahead.
She ended her emotional post with a message of hope to anyone who may be feeling lost or stuck in a dark time.
“Your end may be God’s beginning. If you are in a dark place, just came to remind you… this time next year, things will be better,” she wrote.
Besides being a powerful voice for women’s empowerment, Ayanda is still shining on screen. She has starred in many popular TV shows, including Generations, Nomzamo, Shaka iLembe, Losing Lerato, Ngobile, and Generations: The Legacy. She currently stars in IThonga on Mzansi Magic.
